Help for parents and families

Parents and family members of people that use alcohol and other drugs say it's like riding an emotional roller coaster - it can leave you feeling isolated, powerless, confused and ashamed.

If you're struggling to cope with your loved one's drug and alcohol use, call or email the Parent Drug Information Service. The professional counsellors will listen, talk you through some options and refer you to services and support groups that can help you and your family.

See counselling services for parents and families for other services available to you.  For people who speak little or no English, see help for alcohol and drug users or help for parents, partners, family and friends.
